A live session is just another lesson type
Live classes are modeled as a lesson_type on the curriculum, not a parallel feature. The same builder that holds videos, PDFs and quizzes holds your live session, with its own provider, meeting URL, start time and password. The result: one course tree, one progress record, no separate dashboard for synchronous content.
Four Meeting Providers
Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams or any other URL — each session picks its own. The same course can run a Zoom workshop and a Meet office hour without switching anything platform-wide.
Inside the Course Curriculum
Live classes are curriculum items, ordered alongside videos, PDFs and quizzes. Drip rules, prerequisites and access rules apply the same way.
Scheduled Start Time
Pick a date, time and timezone. The learner side shows a countdown until the session starts, then surfaces the join button only inside the meeting window.
Password Protection
Toggle password_protected on the lesson and add a meeting password. Edushade reveals it to enrolled learners with a show/hide toggle, kept off by default.
Join Tracked Automatically
When a learner clicks join, Edushade marks the lesson in-progress, opens the meeting URL in a new tab, and writes a progress record — no manual roll call required.

Assign multiple instructors per lesson — primary host plus guest experts — pulled from your platform users.
Live sessions that live where the curriculum lives
Edushade does not split synchronous and asynchronous content into different products. A live class is a Lesson with lesson_type set to 'live', sitting in the same course tree as your video lessons. Drip rules, prerequisites and access controls apply unchanged. The course is one place, not two.

Pick a provider, drop in the link
Choose between Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams or 'Other' for any URL-based provider. Paste the meeting link, set a start time and timezone, and optionally turn on password protection. Edushade keeps the provider, link and password on the lesson record so the learner sees a single, branded join page — not a wall of tabs.

A countdown learners can plan around
From the moment the lesson is published, the learner card surfaces the meeting status — upcoming with a countdown, live now with a join button, or finished with a 'session ended' state. The join button is disabled outside the meeting window so a learner does not click into an empty room, and the timezone shown matches the learner's locale, not the instructor's.

Attendance tracked the moment a learner joins
Click join and Edushade does the bookkeeping. The progress record flips to in_progress, a join event is timestamped, and on session close the lesson moves to completed automatically. No separate attendance roster, no manual ticking — the same progress engine that tracks video watch time tracks live class attendance.

From draft to live class in three steps
Live classes use the same lesson modal as the rest of your curriculum. Pick the type, paste the link, schedule the time — and the lesson is ready to publish.
Add a live lesson to the curriculum
Open the course builder, drop in a new lesson, and pick Live Session as the lesson type. Set a title, optional description and assign one or more instructors.
Pick the provider and schedule
Choose Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Other. Paste the meeting URL, pick the start date and time with the right timezone, and turn on password protection if the session needs one.
Publish and let learners join
Save the lesson and the countdown goes live for every enrolled learner. When the meeting window opens, the join button activates, attendance is tracked automatically, and the lesson completes itself when the session ends.
