Engagement Insights opens with the four numbers that actually correlate with a healthy platform — Avg Daily Active Users, Avg Session Duration, Avg Interactions per User and Weekly Engagement — and pairs every one with last period's value so the change reads as fast as the headline. Underneath, a daily bar chart, a dual-axis weekly trend and an engagement-segment breakdown that names your At Risk slice, so the next move is obvious.
What's on the page when you open Engagement Metrics
The page has one job — tell you whether engagement is climbing, holding or slipping, and where to look next. Four KPI cards across the top with deltas. A daily active users bar chart. A weekly trend chart that stacks session time against interactions. An engagement-by-user-type breakdown that calls out the At Risk segment. One date range picker that runs the whole view, with a built-in compare-to-previous-period switch.
Four KPIs With the Delta Built In
Avg Daily Active Users, Avg Session Duration, Avg Interactions per User, Weekly Engagement — each card carries a percentage change vs the previous period, with a green or red trend arrow so the take-away reads in a glance.
Daily Active Users Bar Chart
One bar per day across the date range, clean and readable. Spot the quiet Mondays, the spike days, the day a campaign landed — without scrolling through a noisy multi-series chart.
Weekly Engagement Trend, Two Axes
A dual-axis line chart with Session Time (minutes) on the left and Interactions on the right, on the same days. When session time climbs but interactions don't, the chart names the disconnect.
Engagement by User Type — With At Risk Called Out
Four engagement segments — Highly Engaged, Moderately Engaged, Low Engagement and At Risk (Inactive) — each with the user count, the average session length and the percentage of total. The At Risk slice is the one to act on.
Date Range With Period-Over-Period Compare
One picker drives the whole page. Pick any window, switch on Compare and the previous-period numbers appear on every tile. Default is the last thirty days; custom ranges are one click.
Permission-Gated, Tenant-Isolated
The page lives behind the dashboard view permission. Engagement events are scoped to the tenant — admins on one organisation never see another organisation's numbers, even by accident.
The four numbers, with last period beside every one
The page leads with four KPI cards — Avg Daily Active Users, Avg Session Duration (minutes), Avg Interactions per User, Weekly Engagement (hours). Each card pairs the headline value with a percent change against the previous period of the same length, plus a coloured trend icon so the direction reads before the number does. "428 daily active users" sounds great or worrying depending on whether last month was 380 or 470 — the tile answers the question instead of leaving it floating.
Avg Daily Active Users with growth percent
Avg Session Duration in minutes, period over period
Avg Interactions per User — the depth metric
Weekly Engagement in hours for week-over-week comparison
One bar per day, one trend across the week
Below the headline cards, two charts split the work. The Daily Active Users bar chart traces how many people came each day across the date range — spot the quiet Mondays, the spike days, the day after a notification went out. The Weekly Engagement Trend takes the same days and lays Session Time on the left axis and Interactions on the right, so you can read whether attention and activity are moving together or diverging. A holiday dip and a content-rollout spike look very different on those two charts side by side.

Engagement by segment — find the At Risk slice
Engagement isn't one number for one audience. The Engagement by User Type card splits everyone who showed up across four segments — Highly Engaged, Moderately Engaged, Low Engagement and At Risk (Inactive) — with the user count, the average session length and the percentage of total for each. The Highly Engaged row is the one to celebrate; the At Risk row is the one to act on. Two glances and you know which group needs a campaign, a refresh or a check-in.
Four engagement tiers, scoped to the active period
User count, average session length and percentage of total per tier
At Risk (Inactive) called out so quiet learners don't get lost

One date range, one compare switch — the whole page rescopes
The date range picker sits top-right and runs the whole view — KPIs, both charts, the segment breakdown. Pick any window, from a week to a quarter, and every component redraws against it. Switch on the Compare option and the platform pulls the matching previous period — so this month next to last month, this quarter next to last quarter, with the deltas already wired into the tiles. The default lands on the last thirty days, which is the right shape for a Monday-morning gut check.
Default range: the last thirty days
Custom start and end — any window you like
Compare switch surfaces the previous-period numbers
Deltas on the KPI cards refresh whenever the range changes
From a fresh login to a clean read on engagement
There's no setup. Once your platform is live, the engagement events fill in. Open the page and the picture is waiting.
Open Engagement Metrics
From the analytics area in the admin, jump to Engagement Metrics. The page opens on the last thirty days — four KPI cards across the top with the period-over-period deltas, the Daily Active Users chart underneath, the Weekly Engagement Trend next to it, the Engagement by User Type breakdown beside both.
Read the trend before the number
The number on each tile matters less than the arrow next to it. Up two months in a row is signal. Down for the third week is signal. Hover the daily chart for any standout day. Read the Weekly Engagement Trend for whether session time and interactions are moving together or apart.
Find the At Risk segment and act
Open the Engagement by User Type breakdown and read the At Risk row first. If the percentage is climbing, that's the cohort to send a notice to. If Highly Engaged is the largest slice, that's what's working — keep doing it. The chart is the read; the action is yours, on the same admin without leaving the page.
